	AKWASIDAE FESTIVAL: ALSO CONTINUES IN 2012!   Akwasidae is a traditional festival of the Akan people, which takes place on a sunday, every six weeks.   ABACAR Tours proposes a 14 day tour, arrival at Kotoka International Airport one week befopre Akwasidae so that you can see it by the middle of the programme. Arrival dates for 2011 are as follows: 31/12/10 – 11/02/11 – 25/03/11 – 06/05/11 – 17/06/11 – 29/07/11 – 09/09/11 – 21/10/11 – 2/12/11 (Akwasidae takes place in Kumasi every 6 weeks, the next Sunday following your arrival) Akwasidae takes place in Kumasi, the Ashanti capital and the Asantehene (the Ashanti King), Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, will get out of his palace on his palanquin in order to receive hommage from the sub-chiefs. This ia also an opportunity for any chief under his authority to show his allegeance to the Asantehene. Music and traditional dances make this festival very colourful all along the day.
